In an " advertisement " it is stated that the work " is not published in the usual way, but entirely for the benefit of Mr. Pringle's widow," who was left in very poor circumstances. The volume contains a steel portrait engraving of the author by W. Finden, a vignette, and an illustration entitled " The Bechuana Boy," engraved after Landseer.
