Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography vol. 2 page 98: The author travelled to the front with General Joubert, who remarked to him that he was particularly hurt that the Queen had taken no notice of the long letter or pamphlet he wrote to her on the situation. Mr. Nevinson's first communication from Ladysmith is dated October 11 1899, one day before the Boers invaded Natal. The volume gives an interesting account of the siege and relief of the town.
