J. Cathcart Wason, M.P., was vehemently opposed to the proposed scheme to create an autonomous Jewish state in East Africa termed officially 'a special autonomous alien settlement', on 5000 square miles of land in Uganda. He asked questions in Parliament and conducted a campaign against the scheme in the press.
